Laurance Is the Boise Collective Making Waves with Heart, Grit, and Genre-Defying Sound

In a world that often feels disconnected and divided, the artist collective Laurance is on a mission to build something different: a musical movement rooted in community, vulnerability, and raw emotional truth.

Formed in 2022 in the heart of Boise, Idaho, Laurance is a trio made up of Brian “Laurance” (singer/rapper and frontman), Elijah (producer, songwriter, engineer), and Phil a.k.a. Philly Chee (songwriter, producer, and backing vocalist). Together, they fuse genre-blending soundscapes with a bold emotional core—creating music that’s as rebellious as it is relatable.

“We’re not just trying to make great music,” says Laurance. “We’re building a space where people can feel connected and accepted. That’s what the Laurance team is all about—building each other up.”

A Journey Born from Loss, Fueled by Purpose

While each member of the group brings years of musical experience—from indie and pop-punk bands to hip-hop and electronic production—it was a personal tragedy that ignited their creative fire. In 2020, Brian lost his father, Laurance Kevin, to a sudden heart attack.

“He was the coolest, kindest, most emotionally mature man I knew,” Brian shares. “After he passed, I felt lost. But making music with Eli and Phil gave me the space to grieve, to process, and ultimately to find purpose again.”

the journey

That journey of healing through music laid the emotional foundation for what Laurance represents today—a group that isn’t afraid to be vulnerable, challenge musical norms, and uplift the voices of those searching for a sense of belonging.

Career Highlights and Rising Momentum

Laurance wasted no time making an impression in the music world. The group placed in the Top 30 worldwide in a DJ Khaled-hosted song competition, a moment that gave them the confidence to pursue music full-time. Since then, they’ve opened for legendary acts like Afroman, Masta Killa of Wu-Tang Clan, Chiddy Bang, Def-I, and Sol, and performed at marquee events including Boise Music Festival—alongside names like Jelly Roll, Cee-Lo Green, and Ludacris—and Treefort Music Fest, a five-day global showcase.

With every show and release, Laurance is building not just a fanbase, but a movement. “We want to blur genre lines, blend styles, and give people a sound that’s new—but familiar. Something they can feel.”

New Music: “Foxy Mama” and the Upcoming “Hey Pretender”

Laurance recently dropped “Foxy Mama”, a funky, gritty, and soul-soaked single that captures their signature blend of passion and playfulness. The track is already earning praise for its retro-inspired groove and emotional edge.

what’s up next

Up next is “Hey Pretender”, slated for release in early August. While details are still under wraps, the group hints at a sonic evolution that continues pushing boundaries and breaking molds.

“We want each release to offer something new—to challenge expectations and give people permission to feel, heal, and dance.”

What’s Next for Laurance?

Looking ahead, the collective has their sights set on full-time touring, growing their reach, and ultimately building a sustainable career doing what they love. But more than that, their goal is impact.

“Our dream is to connect with as many people as possible,” says Brian. “We want to create music that helps others feel seen, loved, and supported. If we can do that—and support ourselves through it—we’ll know we’ve succeeded.”

Final Word: Join the Movement

Laurance isn’t just a band. It’s a collective of artists redefining what it means to be emotionally honest, musically adventurous, and unapologetically human in an industry that often rewards the opposite.

Whether you’ve been following their journey since the DJ Khaled competition or you’re just discovering their sound through “Foxy Mama,” now is the time to join the Laurance team.
